Wonderfoon en powerbank
A Wonderphone cannot be connected to a power bank by default. If the phone is on the hook, the power bank will automatically turn off after a few seconds. This is because the Wonderphone is not using enough power, causing it to switch off automatically. That is why the Wonderfoon comes with a 5 volt USB power supply.
After a long search, we found a solution,: a properly functioning Stay-Alive-stick that prevents the power bank from shutting off automatically. The stick is connected between the power bank and the Wonderfoon(s). The Stay-Alive stick ensures that the Wonderfoon can work with a power bank. After some testing, the Wonderfoon still worked after more than two days with the phone on the hook. We used a standard 20,000 mAh power bank for the test.
It is possible to connect multiple Wonderfoons to one powerbank using only one Stay-Alive stick. Optionally you can use a cheap USB splitter to make more USB ports available.
The Stay-Alive stick including plastic case is available for €27 excl vat.
To use, just plug the Keep-alive load between your battery and item to be powered and adjust the blue potentiometer on the unit with a fine screwdriver. Set it fully clockwise at first (maximum current) and gradually decrease the current until the battery pack just cuts out. Then increase the current until the battery pack stays on reliably. That way you only draw just enough current for reliable operation – minimising the effect on the life of your battery.
